Heys everyone,
I would like to apologise for not updating this blog so frequently...Im sure all of you should have known....if you have read the previous posts.Yes, because I've been studying, and C.O has resumed...for the very worst(shall further elaborate on that point later).Okay.1st day of school wasn't exciting, except for the donning of the long pants. For almost half of the day, we were confined in the classroom doing class administration crap(class rules, expectations, election of class monitors...you know the rest).Yeah...it was pretty boring, I've to admit.Last Thursday,I was quite astonished when my class teacher offered to appoint me as one of the class monitors...so im currently under probation...haha.For your info, I was never a class monitor in all my education years.Hahaha.But, if i do become one, I will have to take up a great deal of reponsibility. The plus side is, I would attain extra CIP(community involvement programme)hours...which means I might be getting a 1 point deduction from the "O" levels, if combined with the 80 hrs I already have from C.O performances.Lol.It doesn't seem impossible to hit a 100 hrs now, only if i can get that post, that is.I do not know what qualities my form teacher sees in me, but she claims to have spoken to my previous teachers, and they've given very good testimonials about me...Wow.I really didn't know that I was a role model student? That's cool :p Anyway, I shall now share with you a terrible incident...
A tragedy which almost occured
It was the 3rd of january, 2006.I was approached by my C.O huqin section leader after school."Eh, BPKY, you wanna perform on the 6th of January? Its for the secondary one orientation campfire."I do not know why, but I just agreed without any second-thoughts, as I thought that this was going to be a good opportunity to get CIP hrs.He replied,"Okay, so see you ar...I heard there's gonna be free dinner, so isn't that great?" I thought that free CIP hrs together with a free meal would be more than enough for me...So why should I reject the offer? But as I looked back now, I realised that I had made an unwise decision...On the 6th, almost everything went so smoothly. We had to practice from 2pm-8pm.It was really crazy, but we got ample breaks in between.Yeah, and we really did have free dinner, but it could not even compare to hawker fare.I received a packet of mixed rice,(probably the worst set) which consisted of only vegetables, rice and only a morsel of meat, and my thoughful friends, upon seeing how pathetic my meal looked like, offered to give me their prawns...Yes, it was quite unfortunate of me to choose that packet.Yeah...But at the least, I didn't pay a single cent for it at all.Haha.And so after the dinner, we had to assemble at the football court to prepare for the performance(what a weird location, isn't it?)Following this, we got glow sticks(as it was quite dark by then) to view our scores...but we preferred to hang it up our instruments instead:p...Okay.To cut the long story short, the darn weather ruined everything. When the sec1 camp commandant asked the C.O to start performing, it began raining heavily when we played the first note.Very cool huh?All of us immediately took our instruments and rushed back to the C.O room, at the same time trying to prevent our instruments from catching rainwater(maybe most of you do not know this, but the erhu's snake skin, which is covering the resonator box can never come into contact with water, or else it would warp, leading to either it being permanantly damaged or affecting the sound quality).Yeah. However, moments later, some sec2 junior informed us that the rain had stopped. So we shifted back to the stupid location. However, this time, it started drizzling when we started. We had no choice but to carry on with the performance...Fortunately, we only had to play one song...But something happened to my poor instrument. As I was awkwardly trying to shield it from the rain while I was performing, it still got a little wet. That was the worst part of it all. Therefore I tried using a cloth to wipe off excess moisture from the surface(even when water comes into contact with the wood, the sound quality would still be affected...that's what I dislike about delicate Chinese instruments)hahahah. When I reached home, I left the fiddle to dry under the air-con,tried using a hairdryer, and anything else to ensure that it was in normal condition.Paranoid, you might say, but I like to treat my instrument with extra care(the other fact is that my parents would kill me if anything happened to it):D I am still unsure of whether it is fine.So I might have to pray hard...lol.END OF STORY.( I know its full of crap...must try to cut down on it)
All in all, I would love to conclude that my 1st week of school sucked.Yesterday wasn't so bad, except that we had 7 subjects, which also meant that we had to bring most of our books to school(that's including A.mths, Chemistry and Physics...The 3 thickest books of all) haha.Im definitely looking forward to better days....
Enjoy studying, everyone! :p
Take care&God bless
Until next time.
